And even when there's something he is supposed to pay for -- taxes, labor, vendor bills -- he does everything in his power to keep from paying the amount due. Anyone who thinks he is personally paying for a ballroom hasn't been paying attention.
something you have to understand about Trump & his weird comments about the economy is that the dude hasn't paid for anything like a normal person in decades - never pumps gas, never buys groceries - so he's completely & utterly out of touch with what life is like for most of us

POLITICO: You pardoned the former president of Honduras even though he was convicted in a massive intl drug trafficking scheme. How is that 0 tolerance on drug trafficking?

TRUMP: Well I don't know him and I know very little about him other than people said it was like an Obama-Biden type set up

I'm so old, I remember when it was shocking that the woman-abuser who represented Republican attitudes toward law and order told police not to be "too nice" to suspects they arrested. Now slow, painful death without arrest, evidence or conviction seems to be a turn-on.
Megyn Kelly on alleged war crimes: "I really do kind of not only wanna see them killed in the water, whether they're on the boat or in the water, but I'd really like to see them suffer. I would like Trump and Hegseth to make it last a long time so they lose a limb and bleed out."

Some death peddlers are clearly the good kind of death peddlers who need to be free to live among us and amass all the firearms they can afford.
Trump has now pardoned a murderous drug lord who smuggled 400 tons of cocaine into the country, AND the guy who ran the Dark Web's biggest drug marketplace.

Breaking News: A federal court said that Alina Habba, a Trump-appointed lawyer, had been serving unlawfully as the U.S. attorney in New Jersey. She was neither confirmed by the Senate nor appointed by district trial court judges — the two traditional pathways.
Appeals Court Says Alina Habba, Former Trump Lawyer, Is Serving Unlawfully as U.S. Attorney
The judges wrote that the Trump Administration appeared to have become frustrated by legal and political barriers that have prevented its preferred U.S. attorneys from leading federal prosecutors’ offices.

It’s quaint, I know, but the President of the United States calling for the hanging of Democratic service members for saying that no one should follow an illegal order should inspire a conversation about the 25th Amendment.

It's not based on instincts, but facts, analysis, theory, and modelling. They don't want to hire 3,000 economists, and 3,000 economists don't report to the Fed Chair.
Trump on the Fed Chair job: "It's all based on instincts. I see they wanna hire 3,000 economists. 3,000! To report to the Fed Chairman. What are they gonna do?"

Massie: “[Speaker Johnson is] trying to say the rich, powerful men who flew to Epstein Island are the victims now. The only way a ‘Christian man’ can stand up there and sell a lie like that is if he’s already decided in his head that protecting them is somehow okay.”

Yikes. That stings.
Seriously, it must be nice to have someone you care for stick up for you when you stand up to Trump

Understand where the speaker is coming from: If Republican politicians redistrict to protect their deeply unpopular leader, it's a very good thing. But if voters statewide approve redistricting 2-to-1, it's immoral.
Mike Johnson: “I'll make a comment about the tragedy in California last night…It's just a blatant example of Gavin Newsom's immoral leadership and the fact that they will do anything to try to rig the system to win.”

I don’t really think the framers intended for a president to have the power to slap a tariff on products from a particular country because he didn’t like a TV commercial they ran about him, but I suppose it is presently up to the Supreme Ct to decide how far the Mad King can go.

I used to think it was a over-the-top for @emptywheel.bsky.social to call Miller "Discount Goebbels," but it turns out to be on-the-nose. Read up on "degenerate art" and what the original Goebbels said about it.
Stephen Miller: "The scandal is how Democrats & the left scarred the landscape of our country w/grotesque so-called modern art that celebrates ugliness ... very importantly, President Trump is making sure it's in the neo-classical design around which our nation's architecture has long been directed"
