I think that largely kids are much more accepting of one another.

But when bullying does happen, it's amplified because it doesn't have to be the traditional kind of shit kids could do during school hours.

Now they can relentlessly stalk them in comments, messages, etc. at all hours.

I know it's anecdotal but in the 5th grade my daughter had a friend become suicidal because of bullying over social media

We have 2 of those - Barney and Willow. Both taken from us entirely too soon. Every year when I find them as I get Xmas stuff out, I just sit with them on my lap and remember a special time or two we had together. Then I put up Phoenix's stocking and take him outside for some fun. It gets better.
