Thank you, IG🙏 You’re always so kind.
I loved getting reacquainted with a few books I hadn’t seen in a while, and looking at the family notebooks and recipe cards got me misty.
I’m so glad you’re getting out the old turquoise/yellow recipe box! It’s a good time of year for it. Cheers 🥂❤️✨

She’s a legend in our family. Great cooking.

Wonderful! I can’t wait to see them.
We seem to have so much in common. 💜

Do you any Natalie Dupree books? Are folks in the South still remembering her? You have so many great new chefs…

It will. 😉

At least your first cookbook had a guy (or mouse) on the front!
Don’t you just love your cookbooks? Sitting down with a cookbook and glass of wine is a true luxury.

My brother was more like my Dad — extroverted and becoming a PGA pro, then starting restaurants. His personality could fill a room! I’m a mix of my parents, introverted like Mom, but still enjoying a somewhat humble ‘bon vivant’ lifestyle. 😉

Dad was a PGA Golf Professional, extrovert, and general bon vivant. He wore cashmere sweaters and fancy shoes. He loved fine cars and ordered everything on the menu for ‘tasting’. Mom was an introvert and raised on a farm. I guess opposites attract! Dad made great cocktails and Caesar salad.

😂 Yes! Many times they just barely made notes to jog their own memories, not thinking of the day others would try to decipher them!

Yes, but everything matches. 💪

There’s something so comforting and real about getting out a cookbook and spending time with it. They’re aspirational, as well as instructive. It’s one of the most relaxing pastimes I know. When I REALLY need to relax, I get out a good, old cookbook. As you say, they can surprise — but do it gently.

I’m working on learning to nap.

I like how we have this. 💜

I miscommunicated about the books — the ones I’ve read are actually the Ruth Reichl series, and the Peter Mayle series.
I look forward to the others.
I’ll look up some of the videos of the Bocuse D’Or. 👀
And wouldn’t we have a crazy time there?

Congratulations! Those are adorable.

The forward in this one is just a short thing by Wolfgang Puck, then there’s a ‘retrospective‘ written by Mary Price. I don’t know if that’s in the earlier versions. It’s just a small portion of the book, so I’d get the one you like. Do they show some of the photos?

😂 By the time you start, you’ll be an expert!
December 7, 2025 at 11:01 PM
Ooohhh… I’ve written down the ones I haven’t read (which are the Ruth Reichl and Peter Mayle).
This is exactly what I need this time of year. 💜

It’s a huge volume — days of enjoyment in this thing.
