Worth remembering that Mitch McConnell pretty much single-handedly could have ended Trump’s political career with a warranted guilty vote in either of Trump’s impeachment trials. An incredible breach of constitutional and patriotic duty that has been a catalyst for the ensuing chaos.

Question: But the president’s statements that he believed the election was rife with fraud—those are statements protected by the First Amendment, correct?

Smith: Absolutely not. If they are made to target a lawful government function and are made with knowing falsity, then no, they are not.

100% correct….none of this “well, let’s just move on and stop living in the past” BS
If the Democratic Party retakes Congress, the first duty is accountability. Every crime, every abuse, every betrayal of the public trust must be unearthed. If we look away, we teach future generations that power excuses corruption.

At the moment, seems fair to say the judicial branch is saving what remains of American democracy.
More than 220 judges have now rejected the Trump administration’s mass detention policy

The number has skyrocketed in recent weeks and includes at least 20 judges appointed by Trump himself.

„Quiet, Piggy!“ Just think about that for a minute, and what it means to live in a time when a President can assault a woman in public like that without any consequences.
It‘s quite a testimony to the age of regression we live in.

In a way, I find the authoritarian takeover of our media system even more disturbing than the authoritarian takeover of our political system.

Our political system has been failing basically my entire adult life. But, the media system provided accountability and sort of worked. Now it’s collapsing.

Bingo….timing is everything.
It’s good that people are protesting, but it’s another example of “closing the barn door after the horse has run away.”
In 2017, there was the Women’s March & now it’s “No Kings,” but it would’ve been nice to see this much energy last November when we could’ve won the presidency & flipped the House.

I would love to see someone run for political office on the SOLE issue of addressing gun violence in America. For questions about everything else, “no comment, I am running for public office to help protect the public from gun violence and reduce the risk of mass shootings in America.”

In order for the United States to become a party to the International Criminal Court and have our officials be subject to trial at The Hague, the US Senate would need to ratify the Rome statute by a two-thirds vote. Let’s start running on that.

We are not living in a democracy any longer when our criminal justice system is used to selectively punish the President's political opponents and give his loyalists and friends immunity. We are becoming a banana republic in front our eyes and we cannot normalize it.
