A deep interest in the pre-Windows home computer revolution, specifically the 8-bit, Commodore, and Amiga scene that defined that period of immense technological change for the home computer user.

Fool the grannies, play games all day!
If you could do it all over again, would you want to be educated by computer and with occasional check-ins from a neighborhood gran? This, console anniversaries, a tribute to a departed industry legend, and more on This Week in Retro coming Saturday!

My homemade, hand-wired 6502 machine, presented in honor of #ChuckPeddleDay. 32K RAM, 16K ROM, 6850 ACIA, running at 921 kHz. It has the Apple 1 WozMon for a monitor, plus 4 BASICs, FOCAL, and Tiny PILOT for high-level programming.

Even old Amiga keyboards can come under the influence of old leaky capacitors.

One capacitor leaked so bad, that it corroded one of its own legs & its pad .. and also a trace close by which caused the keyboard to constantly & only output:

In the 1980s, at least one person had to have their hand resting on top of the monitor. It's a requirement!

Learning 6502 programming is still a valid way to hone your low-level coding skills. The 6502 is perhaps one of the earliest RISC CPUs, so you could trace the path from it to the Arm CPUs in just about everything today.

IT is FREAKIN' HERE!!

The November issue of Compute!'s Gazette .. well I just subscribed, so I'm just getting mine. Nice to have a computer rag in the house again!

This issue reminds me of another, so long ago. The cover of Byte. Mom looks soooo mad!

Selling my souped up Commodore Amiga 500 and 1084S Monitor back in 1998 was one of my regrettable decisions in life.

For the first time today, after 27 years and some repair work, I booted up a real physical Amiga for the very first time.

Giddy giddy!!

Breaking down a Commodore Amiga 3000. Small amount of battery damage but nothing that a couple new caps and diodes can't repair.
