I feel like the feature on everything else is an unnecessary beep, but I'm not sure I've seen lots of multis that beep, so Imma guess an unnecessary light?

The quote appears not to exist. I assume google which catch up in the next few days, but at present, google finds only one instance of this quote: Stanford's facebook post.
November 27, 2025 at 9:54 PM
Nope.
That quote is about
"... *inequity* ... in the *classroom* and the wider world"

Stanford's quote (and the Parliamentary question) refer to
"... *equity* in the *community* and the wider world"
November 27, 2025 at 9:50 PM
That's from 2022. The linked .pdfs all work. None of them appear to include the quoted phrase.
November 27, 2025 at 9:12 PM
Your guess seems to be mistaken.
There is no publicly available "Literacy and Communication and Maths Strategy" from the Ministry of Education in 2023. I could find one from 2022, but it does not include this phrase, a google search for which finds in literally one place: Sanford's facebook post.
November 27, 2025 at 9:06 PM
Oh, is Stanford lying when she says that quote is from the literacy, communication and maths strategy? It's really from a social studies document? Dodgy af if so.

It's not.

I guess wait a few hours, but are we sure it's mostly centralising? Maybe large parts of the role of regional councils will move to district and city councils?

Return to the Planet of the Apes (the animated series) isn't perfect, but has a lot going for it. Some of the most limited animation I have ever seen, but made up for with quite starkly beautiful backgrounds and story-telling (continuity) not usually present in kids' shows from the 70s (or 80s/90s).

What's your definition of "small town" such that more than half of small towns have a population of 17,300+?!

:-)

Does the appeal process delay the six month extension of the statute of limitations in 18 U.S.C. § 3288 that you brought to our attention earlier?
November 24, 2025 at 9:25 PM
I've always kinda liked the conceit. Someone read the scrawl at the beginning of Star Wars and said "yep, that's the movie".
As a film itself, I consider it above average in the SWEU. There's a lot I haven't seen though (eg most of animated series I might have seen an ep or two)

Use your party vote for that!
November 24, 2025 at 11:38 AM
People get to be annoyed about the decision.
People get to blame 1 vote on the board if they want, although it seems to have been unanimous
People also get to be annoyed at local MPs manifestly failing in their jobs as local representatives.
That, actually, is something we can fix next year.
November 24, 2025 at 8:30 AM
If you are a local MP and they propose new boundaries, then, for reasons of both local representation and personal political benefit, you:
(1) check how the new draft boundaries affect you.
(2) maybe object
(3) read the 1½ pages of objections
(4) maybe send a paragraph in as a counter-objection
November 24, 2025 at 8:27 AM
My point isn't about the decision. It seems silly to me too.
My point is that there are some people who sought local election who seem to not want to do one of the most basic - and fundamentally easiest - jobs of a local MP, something that hundreds of local MPs have done for *personal preservation*.

The result of a successful impeachment is a trial in the Senate.
The result of a Senate trial is conviction and removal or acquittal.
If convicted and removed, there is no need to resign.
People stop saluting. Your signature means nothing etc.

The Representation Commission was created as an independent body in 1945. I wouldn't expect members of the public to pay much attention to it. I would hope that local MPs would, and historically, they seem to have.
November 24, 2025 at 2:54 AM
The independent Representation Commission published these objections (1-2 pages worth for most electorates) so people could file counter-objections. No-one did. You might expect your local MP to read the 1.5 pages and say, 'we like the names as they are'. They didn't feel the need to.
