Yeah growing up in Mass. I went to an all-boys day school through 9th grade, and probably 2/3 of my classmates went onto various residential prep schools (our "oxbridge" equivalent was "St. Grottlesex," combining Groton, St. Mark's, and Middlesex Academies, e.g.). Not punitive but not THAT common
