Oh no, it’s fine! I understand AI is a hot button topic to the point that any mention of it is in a negative connotation. As someone who studied game design in school, I have to understand that AI will be a part of tech as a whole. Maybe it will be good one day. But now, it’s not being used well

I agree on that. Especially with all the advances to AI generated videos. Out of all the uses of AI, I cannot believe we are in a timeline where it’s being used to make shitty cat videos.

Exactly that. I believe that AI can be trained ethically, but as long as it has this effect on the environment, I don’t think it’s at a point to be used as an effective tool for development yet. AI has proven useful in other fields, but it’s still being used for awful things as well.

THIS omg thank you
Finally some positive reposts
December 24, 2025 at 10:22 PM
Yes! My thoughts exactly. These articles are way too sensationalist with all AI related buzzwords
December 24, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Yeah Gen AI and LLMs are something I am heavily against and are things that AI, as a tool, should not be used for. I find it so suspicious that they’re essentially trying to replace creatives first with this tech. And developers should be educated on this.

AI can be used for good and has already been proven to be effective in medical and astronomical fields. Right now, however, people with bad intentions are using it to replace creatives which is something I completely disagree with. It’s slip nos, but it doesn’t have to be.
December 24, 2025 at 5:33 PM
I’m not saying it won’t. In this specific context, I was stating that it might be later used as a good development tool rather than something to replace people. I like to believe people like Todd understand that his success came from human creativity.
December 24, 2025 at 5:31 PM
I personally just find that people are immediately hopping on the "Fuck Bethesda" train so quickly. Just as quick as the "Fuck E33" one even though that was a way more nuanced situation. And gaming journalist sure do love themselves a sensationalist article with allll the buzzwords
December 24, 2025 at 6:36 AM
In hindsight, maybe I was a bit biased because I really take inspiration from Todd because I've been studying his design philosophies since I love Fallout and oblivion so much.
I currently have trust that he wouldn't use AI to replace, but Bethesda's route right now isn't looking good.
December 24, 2025 at 6:35 AM
Yeah, currently my concern is that there are a lot if unethical things happening with it right now. I find it fine that devs might look to this for a helpful tool one day...but this shit is also driving up the RAM prices and making Nvidia bow down to it. I don't like where it is going
December 24, 2025 at 6:33 AM
I’m not saying you shouldn’t make your own decisions on what games you should buy. I just don’t think we should immediately state that whatever Bethesda games that come after today are automatically AI slop.
December 24, 2025 at 3:36 AM
I want to hope for the best that Todd means he intends on using AI for more developer/code methods. Nothing like Gen AI, but developer kit tool stuff. I don’t think this is as egregious as Larian, but I am giving a BIG benefit of the doubt. Especially since this is a Microsoft owned company.
December 24, 2025 at 3:35 AM
And to be clear, I hate Gen AI and LLMs. I do understand that better tools can be used and created. It’s just that AI right now is being used by awful, untalented people to replace workers. So AI is a hot topic I understand hostility towards.
December 24, 2025 at 2:45 AM
That is such a large reach tbh
December 24, 2025 at 2:26 AM
To give benefit of the doubt and as a game designer myself, I think he means he intends to use AI as a tool to help with the parts of development that benefit devs and DOESN’T replace them. Not every tool is automatically slop. Gen AI is bad but AI in general can be good with checks.
December 24, 2025 at 2:25 AM
What? This didn’t confirm ES6 is all AI slop
December 24, 2025 at 2:22 AM
What he actually said in the article. I can only hope that is won’t actually take people’s jobs if used correctly. Not all AI tools are slop.
