Yeah new Expedition 33 interview was out. The generated texture was just part of them experimenting with GenAI when it was brand new years ago when they were first starting working on the game. They didn’t like it, said “it felt wrong”, stopped using it, and a single texture from that got missed.

However you feel about Generative AI, this is still a bad article.
It spends more time going on a tangent about pirating a decades-old copy of Photoshop because Adobe sucks now, rather than actually interrogating what Todd MEANT by saying "you would use a ten-year-old copy of Photoshop".

To give some BIG benefit of the doubt, this is what he actually said in the article. AI being used as a good development tool that ISN’T REPLACING PEOPLE can be a good thing. As long as it is used ethically. AI is not gonna be used for creative stuff here.
