Sometimes I wonder if Anson Mount and Anson Williams are related but then realize it doesn't work that way.

Another book I read last year is Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett. It's either a gateway drug to a lifetime of Pratchett adoration or a warning sign that Pratchett's too-clever-by-half writing style isn't for you. Spoiler: He's not for me. And that should be okay!

Santa has been distilling his bone collection for 1700 years. It is food for the elves who make your toys. Frankly, this should have remained a mystery.

Another book of note this year is Gideon the Ninth. I read it about six months ago, and it's a book so strange, compelling, and quirky I couldn't build a comprehensive review until like literally five minutes ago. www.goodreads.com/book/show/42...

There's a fine line between looking for a journal to publish your most recent story and staring mindlessly at the internet begging for the sweet release of death.

Of the books I read this year, Voroshilovgrad by Serhiy Zhadan was one of the notable ones. A good magical-realist slog through one of the troubled regions of the world. Here's my take on Goodreads, yes I'm on Goodreads but wouldn't mind changing.

I'm not clear on these videos that start automaticallyand then stop after 3 seconds. If you want me to watch a video show me the video. Why is me clicking on it more valuable than just showing me the whole thing right away? Oh yeah, I forget, social media is run by sociopaths.

Minnesota sports teams (men's) are collectively the best at being horrible and irrelevent. We need to leverage that into some kind of civic pride. It's Minnesota's only dependable resource.

I'm still waiting to find out if all of JD Salinger's unpublished work actually exists and is not worth publishing, exists and will never be published for other reasons, or never existed at all. I am slightly shocked that no one is interested in finding these answers.
