Woods is doing his job perfectly. He doesn’t care about the U.S. or good v evil.

It’s how he’s able to get up every morning and continue destroying the livable climate which is on track to kill billions of people.

(In case anyone is thinking well this is awful but it will save hard working people money in gas)

It’s been interesting watching the centrist pretend “thinkers” like Ezra Klein, Noah Smith, Yglesias etc transition into full Sith Lord embrace.

The New York Times is the perfect paper for privilege plus willful ignorance.

But the Washington Post is creating a new box. “Barely even pretending I give a shit anymore.”

… is willful ignorance with an outward facing “will you people stop being hysterical and be grown ups” posture.

Nothing is better than “born into privilege so of course bad things happen to others and not me.”

That one is 100% empathy proof.

We are an incredible species - at the same time that our intellectual scientists know how extremely dire the situation is, they’re also exceptionally stupid in assuming being honest with everyone will scare us so much that we will all give up.

Except the evidence shows the opposite.

Many climate scientists know that our planet’s climate is in an incredibly bad place but are too afraid to say so because they think most of us will just give up instead of trying to survive.
