Yay! @westmidrailway.bsky.social have got rid of the stupidly sized paper tickets and gone back to standard ISO card sized ones from my local station ticket machine! Excellent... No need for multiple folding to fit them in my phone case. 👍

I had a little bit of #Christmas #pudding mix left over this morning, so I filled a little metal pudding basin and put it on top of the big one to steam for 8 hours. The big one is now resting in the larder but I can sample the little pud.

I think I've done ok based on this taste test. 👍😋

The freshly baked #Christmas cake looks ok. Just needs to cool down just a bit more before going into a container for the next month.

It's got grated carrots, oranges, lemons, loads of various dried fruits in it... Surely #Christmas pudding must be a really healthy super food right?

Right? 🤔🤣🤣🤣

"So why did you go to your allotment today Jon?"

"I needed to water"

"But it's tipping down with rain?!"

"Not in my greenhouse it isn't..."

I think we can safely say that a low of -7°C in past week has finally done for the #allotment greenhouse tomatoes. Still picked a few last ones for this evening's pizza mind. 😉🤣🍅🍕

I don't think the late developing calendulas and nasturtiums I sowed in late Spring/early Summer just before the first heatwave have been enjoying the recent cold snap! #frost #winter #gardening

Another bag of cherry tomatoes from the #allotment greenhouse. I suspect the coming cold snap my finally see them off, but I can complain: the tomato crop pays for the plot rent nearly! 🍅👍

Looking down from Clopton Bridge in #StratfordUponAvon into the fast flowing and rather high River Avon, and the big pile of debris blocking one arch of the old bridge.
November 16, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Quite a bit of debris been brought along by the high River Avon over the last few days.

Our local Rubbish Friends litter picking session alongside the river this morning was cancelled. I can't think why... 🌧️☔😉🤣

One of the main roads out of town near our house is starting to flood and the rain water is now coming up out of the storm drains. Slightly concerning as we're half way up a hill! 😳🌧️ #StormClaudia

Broad beans already starting to sprout in modules in the greenhouse. Only been in there for a couple of weeks. 👍 #Gardening #allotment

Leaf mold processing and collecting today. Firstly emptying the big wooden leaf mold bin of last year's harvest into two old green plastic bins, then many trips to the street outside the site to pick up a cubic metre of freshly fallen leaves.

Getting some wild temperature swings on the min-max thermometer in my #allotment greenhouse in the past week in mid November. Up to 32°C during the day, and then right down near freezing overnight.

Still harvesting tomatoes but for how much longer I wonder?

Interesting to see this on an office door near our Climate Hub in #StratfordUponAvon. Good to see a local firm encouraging reopening of disused #railway lines. #ConnectingCommunities

Replacement trowel handle turned, sanded, oiled, cut off the lathe and refitted. That'll do.👍

And just in time, as the belt on the lathe broke just as I was parting off. 😳🤦

Pinched out the growing tips of the autumn sown sweet peas in the #allotment greenhouse. Min-max thermometer said it still got up to 32°C in there last week and stayed a few degrees above freezing.

Still getting some little cherry #tomatoes off the plants Monty told us to grub out a few weeks ago on #GardenersWorld. Not masses obviously at this time of year, but lot will be enough for a tomato & bean slow cooker meal.

I nipped to the shops whilst walking through the town on the way to the #allotment to see if any still had Autumn sown onion sets.

No onions but I'm now back home having failed to reach the allotment because I might have accidentally spent about £30 on spring flowering bulbs in B&Q.

Waiting for the building to be opened for our #RepairCafe set up this morning, I noticed the churchyard across the street is now in peak English Autumn colours.

Hmm, either American baking powder is different to ours, or their ovens and baking trays are much bigger, as those were distinct discs with ~10-20mm gaps between them when I put the tray in the oven 10 minutes ago. 😳🤣🤣

I'm standing in my #allotment greenhouse at just before 10am at the end of October, and it's so warm I've taken my coat & jumper off, the roof vent is opening and the tomatoes are still ripening.

Broad beans getting down in modules now.

Blimey, that's a whopper of a #spider I shall be sharing my shower with tomorrow morning!
