Had a fun evening in the local eco hub sorting and labelling donated tools and hardware. Hopefully people can now find stuff more easily, and I won't come back in three week's time to find it all upside down again. 😉🤣🤣✂️⚒️🧰🔧🔩🛠️📐👨‍🔧👩‍🔧

Get your flu vaccines, people.
If you're in the UK you can get the vaccine at most pharmacies (in Tesco it's about £16) or check here to see if you're eligible for a free one: www.nhs.uk/vaccinations...

At the Conduit in London to support the Lift the Ban campaign. We ban asylum seekers from working, forcing them on benefits, which we then complain about. Bit silly, let them work. Take away this right wing talking point.

Some years ago now there was a scheme called One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) that aimed to make low cost #educational #computers to improve schooling in poorer nations.

Just read this study on the effect of OLPC in Peru. Summary: didn't make much of an impact. 🤔😲☹️

Yay! @westmidrailway.bsky.social have got rid of the stupidly sized paper tickets and gone back to standard ISO card sized ones from my local station ticket machine! Excellent... No need for multiple folding to fit them in my phone case. 👍

It's so nice to have a proper, hopeful, good news story on the BBC news front page today: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I'm really surprised I've not had @charliebudd.bsky.social knocking on my door with a "Government Cake Inspectorate" uniform on.... 🤔🤣🤣
The freshly baked #Christmas cake looks ok. Just needs to cool down just a bit more before going into a container for the next month.

Wondering what a Gingerbread Rail Replacement Service would look like. And taste like.

What is the flavour of quiet resignation to your transportation fate?

Good to see that @lborouniversity.bsky.social spin out "Aftrak" have improved their #solar microgrid powered agricultural electric tractor.

I wonder if they've seen the "Good Life" episode where Tom and Barbara put a trailer and seating behind their (petrol) tractor?

As if the failure of #COP30 (and most other recent COP meetings) wasn't bad enough, we might now be getting indications from some scientists that its not just keeping under 1.5ºC of warming we're motoring past.
“One implication of the increased growth rate of GHG forcing in the last 15 years is that the goal to keep global warming under 2°C is now implausible.”— @drjamesehansen.bsky.social

2°C climate chaos will be unlike anything we have experienced until now.

Adaptation conversations now beyond urgent

I had a little bit of #Christmas #pudding mix left over this morning, so I filled a little metal pudding basin and put it on top of the big one to steam for 8 hours. The big one is now resting in the larder but I can sample the little pud.

I think I've done ok based on this taste test. 👍😋

It's got grated carrots, oranges, lemons, loads of various dried fruits in it... Surely #Christmas pudding must be a really healthy super food right?

Right? 🤔🤣🤣🤣

The home cook's guide to "are we preparing for Yuletide yet?":

It's a Sunday morning, you've not yet had breakfast, have been prepping for 2 hours, have made a load of sticky washing up and now can't leave the house for 8 hours.

If that's you, you're probably making traditional Xmas pudding too!

Does anyone know of any groups who offer support for people who have had a bad experience with the Court of Protection? Asking for a friend.

Well look at that: turns out we didn't need Trump's USA delegation at #COP30 in order for it to be screwed up and ineffective. I wonder if any other nations will throw their hands up in the air and ignore the next COPs, maybe making bilateral deals with like minded nations instead?

Earlier today I found a "Yonder" debit card on the footpath. No phone number to ring to report it found, and I've just gone round and round on their website without finding a phone number or form. So sorry whoever you were who lost it: I did try to report it!
