Night walk, around the village and beyond the canal to the low fields and along the woods.

Two foxes, a badger, silent deer. So many bats. Unidentified shrieking in a wood (did not investigate). Upstairs light on in occasional houses.

Windfall apples, pears, plums; deep scent of ripe blackberries.

Got me flu jab, then to cheer myself up (after realising, oh right, I’m flu-jab-years-old) I went to Nelli’s Village Cafe in Yealmpton for coffee and walnut cake and a Dickensian pot of Earl Grey tea. Recommended!
A slab of coffee and walnut cake - my favourite! - and a lovely pot of Earl Grey tea, decorated with scenes from David Copperfield. And why not!

MORRIS POST

My new Morris bells arrived today for the Pebworth bellpads. Only they're too small and don't have a big enough loop for attaching. So they'll end up as decorations.

And I've just ordered some noggy brass ones with proper attachment loops. Next up: ribbons of requisite colours.

The fuck did I just read? It's even worse than just "toilet police".

It's toilet police ... within the toilets ... in a girls school(!)

As the first comment says, "...imagine going to your parents for dinner and having to explain that you sit in childrens toilets all day as a job."

The final cover of Olson by Boards of Canada in this thread is by ixi, who deconstructs the track in a different video in her YouTube channel.

I made a post about the Peace Prize, but posted in the (Europe) morning, primed the first two comments, and didn't mention TFG anywhere. No doubt some US MeFites who cannot talk about anything/anyone else will mention only him, so a bit of non-TFG content is good.

1. Chocolate sauerkraut cake. Yes, that is a thing (plenty of recipes online) and worked really well for texture and taste.
2. Pickled shallots.
3. Rhubarb and ginger jam (childhood favourite).
4. Very cold rice pudding, with some lemon curd mixed in, eaten straight out of the can.

Vague memory, so had to go check where and when I tried deep fried Oreos, and it was at a county fair in Iowa in July 2015.

Recollecting there was a side dish option of a bowl of sugar for dipping.
A paper plate with a patterned rim, on a wooden table. On the paper plate are several spindly-looking deep fried Oreos, covered in possibly castor sugar or similar. A hand holding up a half-eaten deep fried oreo so the dark oreo inside is visible to the camera. In the background is a paper plate and some napkins on a wooden table.
