Honestly, this entire opinion is just jaw-dropping. The first postings I saw on Bluesky were about the first page, which is lovely in its own right and exemplifies one of the less-well-explored roles of a judge in a democracy: to explain what is going on legally to non-lawyers.

There's way more.

"I fear President Trump believes the American people are so divided that today they will not stand up, fight for, and defend our most precious constitutional values so long as they are lulled into thinking their own personal interests are not affected.
Is he correct?"

Yes: free.

If you know someone eligible, tell them to apply!

Why do headlines say "norms shattered" when what is meant is "laws broken" or "Constitution violated"?

Just the U.S. Energy Secretary broadcasting to the world that he believes solar-powered electriciy abruptly stops “if the sun goes behind the cloud.”

Secretary Wright said "Do you want your kid in an incubator and if the sun goes behind the cloud, the incubator stops?"

He needs to remember he is also the Secretary of Batteries.

Not just the Secretary of Gaslighting.

Centrist pundit in a few years: "Well, the American people just don't like wind power. It's just the way they are, part of the national character. What can you do? Best to dial back on our wind power talk. Moderate to win!"

Xi Jinping announced China's new climate targets personally, a positive gesture, but the targets brought little clarity on China’s future emission pathway. Targeting a 7-10% emission reduction by 2035 from an undefined "peak level" undersells China's current clean energy boom.

I have a new blog post out on the Hyundai battery plant ICE raid earlier this month. A bureaucratic own goal by the Trump administration that also points toward a bipartisan path forward? legal-planet.org/2025/09/24/i...

The federal government has censored the work of dozens of scientists, including work by my lab, on the impacts of climate change on Acadia National Park. Signs have been removed from Cadillac and Great Meadow. They’re also removing signs about the Wabanaki’s sacred connections to Cadillac.
