"The mobile lab found “‘unacceptable’ levels in all census tracts,” showing an “urgent need for comprehensive measurements of key carcinogenic air pollutants, especially in areas with a history of disproportionate environmental health burdens.”

Comprehensive CUTS in carcinogens are vital. 7/

'The discrepancy is best explained by differences between measured versus modeled ethylene oxide concentrations, which contribute 40-92% of total cancer risk, w/ “important contributions from additional HAPs” including formaldehyde & chloroprene. Together the 3 chemicals make up 96% of the risk.' 6/

'Cancer risks were found to be 'higher than those from the EPA’s Air Toxics Screening Assessment.'

'Maximum estimate for total tract-level cancer risk was 560-in-1-million excess cases, far exceeding EPA’s upper level risk of 100-in-1-million.'

An appalling 560-in-1-million excess cancer cases! 5/

The study reported 'there are few ambient measurements (or none) of various [hazardous air pollutanrts] in the heavily industrialized corridor between Baton Rouge & New Orleans. 17 carcinogenic [VOCs] were measured using fast-response in situ instrumentation aboard a mobile laboratory' ... 4/

Louisiana 'residents in 14 of 15 census tracts faced cancer risks higher than estimates from EPA’s Air Toxics Screening Assessment model, which often relies on self-reported emissions from industrial facilities rather than actual measurements of air pollution levels.' 3/

'The study published in the journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, used first-of-its-kind field measurements to capture real-time data on 17 hazardous air pollutants across four parishes between Baton Rouge and New Orleans in February 2023.' 2/

RFK Jr. fired Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (the institute led by Anthony Fauci for 38 years), after she filed a whistleblower complaint alleging that the Trump regime had undermined vaccine research and defied court orders.

The guy who literally incited an insurrection is now threatening to use the Insurrection Act to torment Americans who do not support him.

(…because he literally incited an insurrection)

You can joke about Pam Bondi’s ridiculous unprofessionalism all you want, but I’m deeply shocked by it: She acts as if she fears absolutely no consequences, convinced that there will be no more political power transfers. — This should shake everyone to their core.

I fear if things don’t change right now, this image is going to come back to haunt us
Laura Rodriguez, on Twitter:

A federal agent points a weapon at a woman who was recording them.

Jess, a U.S. citizen and member of a neighborhood patrol team that documents and shares ICE activity across the city, was filming when the incident occurred earlier today in the Berwyn area.

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Federal Agents Storm South Shore Building, Detaining Families and Children
Families were woken by flashbangs and helicopters as hundreds of federal agents raided their homes. Days later, neighbors are still searching for the missing.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

Yes, this: “Today in keeping with those oaths, we are compelled to speak with one voice to say that the actions of Health & Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are endangering the health of the nation."

By contrast, Stephen Miller has called RFK Jr. a “crown jewel” of the administration.

I kind of can’t believe this Bari Weiss quote is even real, and yet www.nytimes.com/2025/10/06/b...
“I know that there are some people in this room who don’t believe that my marriage should have been legal … and that’s ok. Because we’re all Americans who want lower taxes.”

Turning the military on citizens.

Attempting to rig elections.

Toying with the idea of declaring martial law.

Attacking political enemies and punishing those who speak out.

If this were happening in another country, what would you call it?

Yo, EPA; and neither are guidance documents, letters, press releases, OMB directives, Lee Zeldin interviews, rulemaking proposals, or interim final rules that evade public comment and rulemaking. Get lost longer.

Installing someone like Bari Weiss as the head of a major news organization isn’t even about profit or longevity. In effect it’s about continuing to shrink the traditional news industry smaller and smaller and weaker and weaker and less and less journalism based until it ceases to exist
