Using a plant pallet of predominantly plants native to the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains with adaptive species and contouring with mounds for deeper rooted species, the plant cover provides habitat for birds and invertebrates.

Set on a sloping site with commanding views of downtown Calgary, it brings the ground plan to the back door bringing nature closer to the main living spaces of the house.

I wish they would put solar over non green areas. Parking lots are plentiful as are roofs. Excellent idea! Just don't cut down forests for them. 😢

While with the IBI Group, our very own Kerry Ross of designed and developed construction drawings and led the Parks team in a learning-by-doing exercise to build and plant the two green roofs and to help familiarize the department with extensive green roof technology.

The intent behind the project was to keep the interior of the C-cans cool in the summer and provide a working demonstration for the City of Calgary Parks Department.
