"When Charlie Liban rides his e-bike through Kirkland, he doesn't avoid the hazards of leaf-covered bike lanes. He rides right through them, picking up slippery leaves as he goes. Liban presses a button on his handlebars and whir-whir-whir: a circular, horizontal brush starts spinning behind him."
Cleaning leaf-clogged bikes lanes on Seattle’s Eastside — using bike power
Fall in the Seattle area means lots of leaves in bike lanes. Slippery, soggy leaves can be dangerous on two wheels. Now, volunteers in Kirkland have a clever, new tool to clean bike lanes from the sea...

I wish they would put solar over non green areas. Parking lots are plentiful as are roofs. Excellent idea! Just don't cut down forests for them. 😢

Doug Ford has scrapped legislation that required large buildings in Toronto to install green roofs. I wanted to see how this bylaw has transformed the tip tops of the city since it was introduced in 2009. Here's one example. For @nationalobserver.com

Did you know that planting more trees in your city can cool its temperatures during warm weather?

Plus, they reduce flooding, reduce noise, and look pretty.

One more reason we should be increasing greenspace in our cities.

Does this ever happen in North America? While in North America the average size of Green Roof is around 5,000sf. This size would be considered a small size Green Roof in Germany. The average size in Germany is likely over 25,000 sf and the amount of Green Roofs build every year is probably 10 times higher. Despite higher energy costs and taxes in Germany, the costs for the installation are lower.
