It’s 3 wks till Thanksgiving, a feast that celebrates community & sharing (or at least should), but also, it is the day I lock my holiday playlist.

I’ve been adding songs every year for decades, and the list is now over 1,000 songs long—but there’s always room for more at my holiday table.
So this is Christmas….

I always think of the stock market as a flock of birds. You never quite know why that one bird took off or turned left, but you can easily see how every other bird follows.

In case you were wondering how next month’s ACIP meeting might go….

Pay attention to the man behind the curtain… and the curtain. 🧵👇
ICYMI: Yesterday, the CDC updated its vaccine safety page to say that vaccines might cause autism (they don’t) and that the science isn’t settled (it is).

For substantiation, the page links out to several studies by anti-vax allies of HHS Robert Kennedy Jr.

As previously noted, there is a non-negligible number of the GOP base for whom the behavior described in the Epstein scandal isn’t abhorrent—it’s aspirational.

Not just you. I am a journalist, and I’m perfectly comfortable saying some things are more important than “access.”

Actually, a lot of things are more important than access.
I mean, look, I'm not a reporter, so who am I to talk?

But on a day where the president both just called a woman reporter "Piggy" and is celebrating someone who had people bone saw apart one of my colleagues, I might just be a little ready to defend my colleagues and profession.

But that's just me

Senate agrees to House language on Epstein files by unanimous consent. This was Schumer’s move, and while I appreciate the alacrity, and a roll call means less after Trump stopped trying to oppose the bill, I expect more delay tactics ahead, so having every Senator on record would have been useful.

Rep. Clay Higgins, a Louisiana Republican & ardent Trump supporter, also chairs the House subcommittee that initiated a subpoena on the Justice Department for the Epstein files. 🤔

Hell hath no fury like someone who thinks they can be president.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I was called a traitor by a man that I fought for 6 years for. I gave him my loyalty for free. I've never owed him anything. Let me tell you what a traitor is -- a traitor is an American that serves foreign countries."

Prosecutors say he had planned for someone dressed as Santa Claus to distribute poisoned candy to minority children. Authorities say he also planned to supply the tainted product to Jewish schools.”

Reminder: As GOP Senators now jump on the “release the Epstein files” bandwagon, every story on this should include that if Trump is truly in favor of releasing all the files, he can just tell DOJ to do it—there is no need for the Congressional vote.
Been saying that a unanimous vote in the House would be less of a bombshell than a split caucus.

The next Qs:

Will Trump tell Senate GOP to do same?

Will WH release an abridged or altered tranche & claim it is everything?

Will DOJ say new investigation into Clinton etc prevents release?
Trump calls for Republicans to vote to release Epstein files
House vote on a bill to compel the release of the Epstein could be a rare example of Republican lawmakers openly breaking with President Donald Trump.

I keep thinking about the scene in “The Social Network” where the Larry Summers character tells the Winkelvii that Facebook will never amount to much of anything.

Summers has said the portrayal of him in the film was “pretty accurate.”

Tells you all you need to know about Larry’s economic insight.
You don’t “have to hand it to” Larry Summers.

Not ever.
If there were an argument FOR cancel culture, it is Larry Summers.

Been saying this all year—at first tentatively, as I am not a financial reporter, but now I’m more sure. AI firms are headed for a 2008-level implosion, and they are going to turn to public funds from the govt to bail them out, claiming “too big to fail.”

What are our electeds doing to protect us?

Joe Hill said, “Don’t mourn, organize.” I would hope we can do both. RIP Alice Wong.
Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

The most common respiratory virus you’ve never heard of. Almost as prevalent as RSV in some places & can be just as dangerous to vulnerable populations. I caught this in ‘23. Cough from hell. No good treatments. You don’t want to get it.

Do you know how not to get it?

Yup—MASK UP in public spaces.

You ever get the feeling that Temu Himmler here is really annoyed he can’t just kill them?
Bovino: "Whether they were criminals or individuals that were taking jobs from Americans -- you name it, that's what they were doing. And I'll tell you what's gonna happen. We're gonna go even harder on the streets. If he releases those 650, we're gonna apprehend 1,650 on the streets of Chicago."

Six Democrats—basically the names you’d expect—joined Republicans to vote YES. Two GOP representatives voted NO.
The House of Representatives has passed a funding bill to end the government shutdown. The bill now heads to the White House for President Trump's signature.

I think about this story often since it crossed my desk during the 2016 campaign. I wish there were responsible journalists working this enough so that we could just come out and add to every story that Trump raped a child.
"A woman who has filed federal lawsuits accusing Trump of raping her 20 years ago, when she was 13".
“I understood that both Trump and Epstein knew that I was 13”
"She alleges that during those parties the real estate mogul tied her to a bed and raped her."
