How can you tell that Brandon is now in Philly?

[nearby, a Black man is shivering his fingertips off]

Your intuition may tell you the answer.

the bricks are alive at this day to testify it;

Look, I don't do Lego, I can't really afford Lego, I have absolutely no space in my home for Lego sets, but I created an account to support this because if this gets made, I am 100% getting this the minute it's available.

ai defenders are so disingenuous — no serious researcher ever wants streamlined interpretive data & the internet (as fallible as it is) was 100% fine for casual searchers. ai introduces nothing but contentious thievery disguised as commercialized innovation.

Make it so.
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

Well-written and informative. To sum-AI does not belong in educational spaces.
“While the AI industry claims its models can “think,” “reason,” and “learn,” their supposed achievements rest on marketing hype and stolen intellectual labor. In reality, AI erodes academic freedom, weakens critical reading, and subordinates the pursuit of knowledge to corporate interests.”

sad way to be an academic if you think a world you might want (not the past; a better present) is impossible: it's basically an abdication of the duty of the academic, which inter alia is about creation of new knowledge to — yes, why not? — help us progress to a better world

Yes, and also: accommodations help provide what's needed for the student to interact with the course material, not give better grades to people who don't deserve them. Wonder if Josh Barro ever missed a class due to illness or family emergency, and whether he got an accommodation when that happened.
A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

Maybe we should just let the industry die.

Huh! Go figure.
