A poem from this week’s guest on The Poems We Made Along The Way.

Always worth checking out a poem from Mary Jean Chan.
poetrysociety.org.uk
An excerpt from 'Grass' by Mary Jean Chan, which is featured in the latest issue of The Poetry Review and available to read in full for free on our website. 📚
She took four steps this morning,
then another six, the nurse
tells me, counting as though
my mother were an infant
learning the sense of movement.

My friend Sarah Clancy is currently in IOF captivity, kidnapped last night when her boat, part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, was illegally intercepted in international waters.

Some boats are still sailing. Do what you can - wherever you are - to amplify & protest. 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

Reminder that my new poetry collection (my SEVENTH because I apparently cannot take a hint) is available from Picador www.panmacmillan.com/authors/luke...
A big superimposed copy of Luke’s book, The Book of Jonah, “emerges” from the sea.

I really hope this scholarship reaches and serves writers who would not otherwise have access to instruction and community.
