They're tearing Goddard apart for scraps and I'm supposed to write as many proposals as I can to scramble for a fraction of the money NASA has left? Depressing, degrading, and dehumanizing in a time when the future of planetary science can be measured in the number of people it leaves behind.

i cannot overstate how extraordinary it is for federal civil servants to do this
Host: There are new calls this morning for RFK Jr.'s resignation, and those calls coming from inside HHS itself. More than 1,000 current and former HHS workers are making this demand in a letter released this morning. They say his leadership has "put the health of all Americans at risk"

Just your daily reminder that Trump voters don't deserve measles or cancer or to lose their health insurance. We all deserve a government that protects and promotes our health. Shaming and blaming, pushes people away, pushes away the people we most need to reach.
A kind reminder that a "politics of you deserved this" (cancer, vaccine-preventable disease, natural disaster, etc) has no place in public health. We can hold bad actors to account without punching down on the groups most harmed by their actions and/or resorting to shame, blame, and stigma.

This thread🚨🚨🚨
#NIH is hanging by a thread. The #CDC has been decimated. #RFK Jr. and Russell #Vought are psychopaths--I don't say this frivolously--they are cold, calculating, inflicting violence on millions through public policy. It is where we are right now. These men are not normal. 1/

County records show that some Kerr County officials did see the floods coming and raised concerns about the county’s outdated flood warning system nearly a decade ago.

The state denied the request, directing most federal assistance toward more densely populated areas, including Houston.
This Texas county sought disaster resilience help for years. Now its too late.
Amid the Lone Star State's historic floods, the Trump administration is retreating from disaster preparedness.

We are dismantling American higher education & scientific research & health care & all the other things to fund concentration camps
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

This is a huge loss for FDA regulatory science. Peter Marks led FDA CBER during COVID vax clinical development. Rigorous standards for safety/efficacy were met before emergency use authorization. Peter Marks was one of the COVID heroes while RFK Jr was spreading disinformation.

RFK Jr. forces out Peter Marks, FDA’s top vaccine scientist
Marks, an architect of Operation Warp Speed for coronavirus vaccines, warned that a measles outbreak shows how confidence in science is being “undermined.”
