Introduce yourself with 4 spaceships
The ship from Flight of the Navigator, a mirrored chrome teardrop about 30 feet long, flattened slightly vertically, with a sharp seam down the midline and a suggestion of winglets. It's hovering out of a hangar with no visible means of propulsion over a crowd of panicking people. A massive spaceship with x shaped wings around a conical core hangs in the air over choppy seas on a rocky coast, looming over a high tech castle clinging to a crag in the foreground, lot dramatically by the setting sun. The ship I'm referring to, though, is the GSV (Eccentric) Sleeper Service, one of whose plates hosts the sea and coast and castle the little ship is hovering over. From the cover of Excession, by Iain M. Banks The Empress Marava class tramp freighter from Traveller. It's a bit of a working man's Millennium Falcon, a rounded rectangular box wedged between two cylinders roughly the size of jumbo jet fuselages, one topped with a Falcon style windowed canopy, the other with a skylight and forward viewing port. The HMS Bounty, a B'rel-class Klingon Bird-of-Prey, hangs in the air just above the port bow (scrape 'em off Jim!) of a whaling vessel. Not the best shot, really, since the wings are edge on, missing out the stylized feathers and the long neck of the bridge.

Reading Metal From Heaven and its great, but I'm only managing a couple chapters a day because I keep having to put the book down and stare into the distance. It's a stabby one.

Zentradi officer's pod. The regular pods are cute, but the skinny little arms with the giant guns on the end really make this one for me.
A Zentradi officer's pod from Robotech. Its got the chicken legs of the regular pods with front-and-back cloven hooves, but the body/cockpit looks a bit like a Soviet attack helicopter cockpit with a couple of jet engines strapped to it, with a giant fuck-off cannon on top, and two skinny little arms with giant guns on the end that look a bit like a couple of giant M1911 pistol barrels.

I'm excited for this week's song selection, just because it includes shoggoths.

I just think they're neat.

System Shock II. Those fucking monkeys in the lab area terrified me. I was working night shift, so I was awake after midnight with all the lights off 'cause my roomie was asleep, and their freaky monkey screams had me hiding under a desk in an office 'til they went away.

Frustratingly,

Random memory going through my photos (so many blurry mushroom pics): I saw this big field of russulas outside one of the apartment complexes near us shortly after we moved, and I'm so sad that they never came back. Haven't seen a single mushroom in that area in the 2 years since.
Sparse grass on mud near the base of a tree, with a chain link fence pressed up against it. A couple dozen mushrooms ranging from pale to dark ruddy brown and fingernail to silver dollar sized are scattered around the grass, the mud, and under the fence.
