Just a little grey duck in a big grey world. He/him. (Not to be mistaken for ho/hum.) If I have a "main topic" it's the game #Satisfactory. My main textual output is (or should be, if I'm behaving myself) over at my not-a-blog: https://greyduck.net

Making diamonds is the first time I've actually thought, "Okay, maybe I really DO need to dismantle those last few coal power plants."

I refuse to touch that mess, honestly. At least not in my current solo save.

Mind you, how much of that sprawling graphic is "getting from Zero to Plutonium Fuel Rods"?

I think why I'm still sticking with Silksong even after some really obnoxious difficulty is that there's something inherently funny about taking this cold effortless virtuoso character from the first game and putting them in a situation that makes them go "Ow! Dammit! Ugh! Stop it! Why?! Unfair!"

Is that girl's butt attached to her torso at all, or is she two discrete halves of a body that operate near one another without the requirement of being physically joined?

Like, if you're going to do pandering fanservice, at least make it quality, ya losers.

This is the thing that has been irritating me a lot lately. "AI" keeps popping up on things I use and I'm like "Welp, can't trust that anymore" but then on closer inspection it's not AI at all, but now I don't want to use the app anymore because of the bad marketing gimmick.

Big Part is that AI generally is marketed as a brand.

Meaning that my app I use to correct spelling errors, is essentially seen as the very same thing like Sora 2, which was deliberately created to make soulless AI slop, by copying the work of real artists.

I saw both in the theater. (Sigh.) I can at least remember things from Waterworld. The Postman? I think there was a horse? Pretty sure? That whole slog just slid right off of my brain before I even left the theater.

As someone not into Kamen Rider, I still enjoyed the heck out of this premiere. It's grounded in some interesting ways, plus it knows when to rip the knobs off the amplifier. At no point is this first episode half-assed.

Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider – Episode 1

The premise could be mean-spirited, but for now it's embracing the right level of heart and enthusiasm

May I Ask for One Final Thing? – Episodes 1-2

Sometimes it’s just immensely cathartic to watch a woman punch rich people in the face.

I just saw someone use the abbreviation “AI;DR” and I’ll be laughing for a while.

WYWS is one of those movies that, on paper, should repel me on-sight. And yet. Literally everyone in that movie brings their A game, the writing's sharp, and that family is so full of verve that you can't help but get swept up in it. I've seen it a dozen or more times and it doesn't fail.

My problem is that I have had one all this time and keep forgetting to write anything there.

Gee, how did we end up in this over-a-barrel situation, I wonder.

It's such a mystery.

Every time someone sends me an AI generated summary of something instead of using their own brain or a verified source, I take psychic damage. Why are you using the water-guzzling plagiarized nonsense machine? Why do you think only sometimes accurate is good enough?

My partner has an entire massive shelf just for the script books and other tomes from that lineage. They'll probably never get actually read, but hey, they *exist* and they're *here*.

Yeah. Those two jobs share readily transferrable skillsets, everyone knows that, right?

@wombat37.bsky.social A friend posted this on Facebook and I thought you'd get a laugh from it if you haven't already seen it!

Read this thread from a great Portland reporter! The New York Times running this story today is absolutely calculated. It has been positioning Portland for years as a progressive villain. Also: why send a reporter from the Bay when the NYT has at least two reporters who actually live in Portland.

This article has a lot more important problems so I feel stupid saying this…but umm…the Mercury wrote and published the first major article about the DSA councilors back in June. Of course it isn’t the local reporting linked or mentioned here.
