Never thought I would get some insight on my favorite MCU show just like this. I love the internet.
That was Drew Goddard’s rationale for the New York of the show being gritty and grimy like 1970s New York as opposed to the gentrified NYC of 2014 (when we shot it). The aliens fucked it up. I thought that was pretty brilliant! But he didn’t want people to feel they needed to have seen Avengers.
