Skee Mask - Compro

...yep, still one of the best techno releases of the last decade+

Sometimes writing makes you read more. Sometimes reading makes you write more. I love this symbiotic relationship.
Created the skeleton project for my next blog post on samwho.dev last night. Got a topic I really want to write about but need to do quite a lot of reading first.

I got into tech because it’s fun to take things apart, see how they work, and put them back together — or rearrange the parts into something brand new. it definitely feels like the new ethos is “bro why bother to learn? caring about that stuff is cringe, just go FAST bro” and that bums me out

the main thing that makes me uneasy about llms is the cultural backdrop of global war on knowledge. the war on knowledge isn’t new but now it’s cheered on from tech too. tools for thought pivoted to slot machines because that’s what people want. “how things work” is buried under opaque indirections

Love that feel in a truly type safe env when you write code for an hour plus, compile, and have application logic work first try 🙌🏾

Interesting points in the replies
Serious question:

Why do so many developers hate stored procedures?

Flow state helps me recover from my work.

I do a ton of context shifting in day to day, within work and out of it, to help my family or my org where I’m most needed.

Flow state on the weekend- coding, playing games, making things- this recharges me.

I get so happy when I make time to write.
Early mornings bring the same feeling of calm and joy.
Gotta make more time for these basics.

Skee Mask - A, B, C, and D

it's crazy to me how these name your price collections are just as good or better than major album releases from so many of Skee Mask's peers.. he's just that damn good. listening to D now and thinking I should burn each of these to a CD for my car

I will say this, I have a dotfiles repo I've used for a long time, and every time I join an org, I make a new branch. There's always small things to change (like the email in the gitconfig)

Highly recommend this. Great way to organize your shell per org, too.
Everytime I do it, I forget just how many things you need to do to set up a new computer.

Feel like you spend weeks finding out you've forgotten this or that.
