Offer $20 tickets and the community aspect that will be lacking at the big World Cup stadiums
guthrieedson.bsky.social
This kind of reminds me of the last men’s World Cup where Bundesliga ultras groups that were boycotting the WC because of Qatar’s human rights violations really turned out for the women’s teams—many of those games were held at the men’s stadiums and the ultras went all in on that.

The league could do well even in host cities where the World Cup tickets are $200+ between teams that your average NWSL fan won't care about.

Not only is it a cheaper alternative, but you may even pick up new fans who were already in the city for the World Cup. Just seems like a missed opportunity.

#NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman gives @financialtimes.com a long interview, with many business and tech industry buzzwords, but also some news:

The league will stop during next year's men's World Cup group stage, but will resume during the knockout rounds.

Spirit see Servando Berna for the first time—this is his first year in PRO2 but it seems like he’s worked quite a bit of NCAA woso. Greg Dopka gets Rahsing-Tsars (which could also be a WWE match considering some of the players involved) and Chesky has her first NWSL game in the center since June.

This is absolutely wild. All 10 starters in the #WNBA Finals are Black women. And you use this photo of 1. A white woman who hasn't played since the All-Star break and 2. A white woman eliminated in the first round. 3. With neither team in the Finals.

Be better, @usatodaysports.usatoday.com #WNBA

Interestingly both of the games Demetrescu oversaw involved Spain, including the Spain-Italy game, from which there will be several players involved in today's Real Madrid-Roma clash.

Huerta de Aza saw many of the Chelsea players in the 🇸🇪-🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 quarterfinal at the Euros. Olofsson also made it as far as the quarterfinals where she did 🇫🇷-🇩🇪. Demetrescu and Grundbacher each had two group games, and Augustyn wasn't selected for the Euros.

Real Madrid 🇪🇸-Roma 🇮🇹: Iuliana Demetrescu 🇷🇴
Man United 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿-Vålerenga 🇳🇴: Ewa Augustyn 🇵🇱
St-Pölten 🇦🇹-Atlético Madrid 🇪🇸: Tess Olofsson 🇸🇪

Things are getting a bit clearer in the #NWSL playoff race but much is up in the air. Five teams can clinch playoff spots this weekend
Chart showing where each NWSL team can finish with three weeks remaining. Washington spirit can finish between 2nd and fifth. Gotham, Portland and Seattle can finish between 2nd and 10th. LA can finsh as high as 6th and Utah's best hope is finishing 8th.

Having Hal back and the rise of Deb (snd her versatility) has also been pretty key

Not having Krueger for most of the season was brutal but some of the goals we let in between April-June were so cheap
guthrieedson.bsky.social
That would be a logical conclusion

Justice for Maggie Cagle though—the Cagodfrey duo has been just tearing it up this season. I’ve also been on the Vailana Tu’ua train this season and if there was a national freshman of the year award, she would be in contention for it.

It's October 7 today.

It's been two years of israeli genocide in Palestine; violence, bombs and images of starving Palestinians, children being ripped limb from limb, all backed and supported by western liberal democracies, who preach "democracy" and "international law" every single day.

Found this on the York Referees’ Association website about reckless challenges…definitely think that last one about part of the body used makes a good case for that foul to be reckless
The position of the ball, what are the chances of playing the ball in a fair manner? A tackle may still be considered reckless (or even with excessive force) even though the ball is played. Where contact is made with the ball and opponent at speed and without consideration for the potential danger to the opponent, it should be punished appropriately.

The speed or the intensity of the challenge. Is the player in control of his actions, or is he "off the ground" and out of control when he makes the challenge?

The part of the body used in the challenge. Has the opponent used his studs to cause serious injury to an opponent or does he use his leg or foot to tackle unfairly?
