Teacher. Serial hobbiest. Reader. Constantly biting off more than I can chew both literally and metaphorically.
Glad this came to me from the library when it did. A love letter to the great people of Minneapolis and books and native people. Gut wrenchingly topical.

With the nation’s weather forecasting all wonky these days, it’s a good thing our senator is such a consistent piece of garbage so we know how bad to expect this weekend to be

I don’t understand how every Fredrik Backman book is the most beautiful book I’ve ever read or how a book that is so sweet can also so precisely describe so many different types of abuse and trama that children experience. If I could, I’d make it mandatory reading for anyone who works with teens.

First book finished (tho started in 2025) of 2026. Cried so much during the last two chapters my dog had to come check on me a few times. #booksky

Wild to wake up and think that I wish I had the president from Wag the Dog who pretend started a fake war to distract from his sex crimes against children instead of the president we do have who really started a real war to distract from his sex crimes against children.

My husband who generally doesn’t like movies and who hasn’t seen It’s a Wonderful Life: didn’t realize it was gonna be so lefty.
Me: I told you you’d like it.
Him: yeah

A few years ago the NYT published a story about Houston’s housing first and supporting our unhoused population under mayors Parker and Turner. Now they publish a story about how much our mayor hates bike lanes, folks who live outside, and his own political party. How fucking embarrassing.

I went to a meeting today that my city council person hosted & it was just an unrelenting onslaught of my neighbors talking about how we need more police presence to “clean up the homelessness problem.” One guy called folks who have to use the bathroom outside animals. It was gut wrenching.

Business idea: a bakery called ‘Just Desserts’ where some of the proceeds go to the ACLU. And maybe like a little reading nook with books about prison reform.

TLC and Destiney’s Child had it right. We need more songs that explain and define hip insults for men who suck.

Me justifying every bandle I don’t get: I don’t feel like I missed out not knowing this song.

Pride & hurricane season are both reminding me that we that we only have each other. With anti-LBGTQ violence up & NOAA & FEMA all but dismantled, we do what we can to prepare, check on our neighbors, step in where we can and hold each others hands in solidarity. This is what community looks like.

@michaelhobbes.bsky.social @notalawyer.bsky.social Not sure if Jon Gordon is big outside of the education world, but despite not being explicitly education themed, his toxic positivity garbage has been pushed on me at multiple different districts. Would def listen to an IBCK episode about him.

Living in a country where folks at different income levels almost never know each other combined with people blindly mistrusting news that doesn’t “seem” true means there’s a bunch of financially comfy white people who are like “I don’t know what you’re talking about, things are fine”

Can I take my whiskey neat, my coffee black but my bed at like 10:30 pm?

Torrenting Andor as its creators intended.

Finally watched Anora and good god did I not realize how much I needed for a movie to normalize screaming bloody murder when you’re being fucking attacked.

“The pace of oppression outstrips our ability to understand it” - that boy from Andor. Can’t tell if I’m excited that Disney let this exist or if I’m furious that they thought it would placate us. #starwars

Rewatching Andor in preparation for season two and boy howdy does it feel bleakly real.

Currently furious that I have to plan for both the potential end of the US economy as well as end of year standardized testing for my students.

Got a student and every time I see him in the hallways and say “hey bud, it’s great to see you” he goes “yeah, it is” and that’s the energy I want to move through life with.

Great thing about libraries: when I get a book recommendation I immediately put it on hold. Not only does the delayed acquisition help me not get overwhelmed by too many books, but by the time I get the book I can’t remember who recommended it to me and figuring it out is like a fun little puzzle!

Student A to student B: No shit Sherlock
Student B: who’s Sherlock?
Me, the teacher: *laughs uncontrollably*

Not surprised. Haven’t trusted her since she made fun of the “other woman” for not being able to shoot whiskey which is objectively the worst way to drink whiskey.
I'm surprised that y'all are surprised about Carrie Underwood.
