this exists it is called thinking
Matthew McConaughey says he wants a private LLM, fed only with his books, notes, journals, and aspirations, so he can ask it questions and get answers based solely on that information, without any outside influence.

i don’t think people on bluesky understand the severity of this situation.

i woke up to literally hundreds of texts from friends and family thinking about either moving back home to india or applying to other countries for jobs. this includes me.

Those on an H1B cannot return to the US from tomorrow (Sunday) unless paying $100K. This is an out-of-the blue presidential action. We’ll see software engineers stranded abroad.

One easy to predict outcome: those on US visas will travel less… for work, for conferences etc.

“There is no comparable requirement for boys to confirm their gender,” said another parent. “Once again, the onus is placed on girls to be monitored and regulated, reinforcing the idea that female athletes are the ones who need to be verified.”

As you cancel streaming services, here is a casual reminder that only 16% of Americans read for pleasure anymore, and your local library has hundreds or thousands of books you haven't read.

They would love to see you stop by and renew your library card.

The regressive party strikes again.

I don't believe in evil as an entity. But making children suffer needlessly is about the closest thing to evil I know.

This is it.

Cancel culture, but for real. The Twitter Files, but for real. Actual, unadulterated collusion between the government and media-owning corporations to censor Americans.

Shame on the MAGA libertarians and fake-heterodox civility cops who helped pave this road to authoritarianism.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

These people should not be in government.

Amen: “If you’re putting out a report that’s supposed to address how to help our children stay healthier, and you’re not even mentioning the No. 1 cause of childhood deaths, you ought to be embarrassed,” said Bruce Mirken, a spokesperson for Defend Public Health”
Kennedy commission child health report ignores gun violence, the leading cause of child death
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said violence could be fault of antidepressants, social media and video games, but not guns.

they seem to know nothing abt classroom experience & faculty objectives. we don't read texts and nod along, 'yup, that scans'. we challenge them. students come to an unending array of conclusions. they reject some things, accept others. skilled faculty bring that out & don't aim for a single value.

“In their latest biweekly survey of AI adoption, the US Census Bureau found evidence of an obvious drop-off in corporate AI use — the largest since the survey began in November of 2023.”
Data Shows That AI Use Is Now Declining at Large Companies
Hype dims as a country-wide survey of US corporations shows a sudden drop-off in AI use among firms with more than 250 employees.

i wonder if blake masters realizes what this would look like

90 million, maybe 100 million, foreigners in the USA today.

That’s about 87 to 97 million too many. (Some tourists and a few extraordinary abilities are OK)

Illegal immigration is the worst, but “legal immigration” has gotten way out of hand too, by orders of magnitude.

As we all know opting to watch YouTube videos is the same thing as learning

“Humans,” who are well known to all learn the same way.
Riparbelli is the co-founder and CEO of Synthesia, a company that uses AI to create video lessons led by lifelike avatars. The company was valued at more than $2 billion in January 2025. These avatars are used in advertising, in corporate training — and in schools.

Riparbelli says that humans learn better by watching videos and listening to audio, rather than by reading text. He pointed to people opting to watch tutorials on YouTube or listen to a podcast rather than reading. And as AI gets more advanced, he says, video content will become easier to produce at scale.

Eventually, Riparbelli says, this means that schools will be able to use these avatars to supplement teachers' lessons — like having a personal tutor for each student. Rather than children reading from a textbook, for example, he imagines every student talking to their own AI avatar about a given lesson. That avatar would then assess how well the student
