For one, the loudest climate deniers sure do love to tell you about their credentials. Another is the extent to which individual anti-renewables groups are spamming submissions to create the impression of much more opposition or frustration than there actually is.

'Our capability to observe the Earth's energy imbalance and budget terms is threatened as satellites are decommissioned'

And now it's (temporarily? 🤞) not being updated.

We need more CERES satellites.

Can @esa.int @esaclimate.bsky.social @ecmwf.int and others help?

This is quite something.

More summer warming over the oceans around and East of Japan in the past 5 years that the preceding 170 years..

I just updated this NASA CERES graph. The regional level of Absorbed Solar Radiation increased by 4.2 W/m² in 20 years!!

That's more than the global greenhouse gas forcing increase since 1750!

The 2 W/m² Net Flux increase indicates that there is a lot more regional warming in the pipeline.

“This two-tiered approach...won't lower electricity costs," said Ted Kelly, of the Environmental Defense Fund. “It just saddles families and businesses with higher bills and more asthma-causing pollution.”

For the Trump admin, fossil fuel profits always matter more than the people.

The White House is offering “concierge, white glove service” to oil, coal and other fossil fuel companies that are seeking to gain fast approval for their projects, according to an energy official, while slowing down or blocking solar and wind projects.

Oh Japan, this is seriously not the right path.

www.climateandcapitalmedia.com/japan-is-bet...

Japan is betting heavily on CCS — which involves capturing concentrated CO2 from industrial sites or power plants, and moving it by pipeline or ship to sites.

Corporate ventriloquism 📌
ketanjoshi.co
I have not actually read the new climate obstruction book yet but my mate sent me this really excellent extract

www.routledge.com/Climate-Obst...
Corporate Ventriloquism

Corporate ventriloquism is a rhetorical process by which companies transmit messages through other entities, usually of their own creation, to construct and animate an alternative ethos, voice, or identity that advances their interests.

Some companies have used corporate ventriloquism to advance their agendas through support for community organizations.

Ventriloquism Companies may create front groups and information campaigns, but also leverage corporate social responsibility strategies that invest in community development. Such strategies have been used for decades as a means for industry actors to underscore their legitimacy and to shore up the perception that they are positive social contributors to the environments in which they operate.

Research has shown how extractive industries such as coal have invested heavily in local communities to sow solidarity and support for the industry.

Material investments such as parks, community centers, sponsored events (concerts, car shows, etc.), and museums are not only a means of winning support through material investment in communities (a form of philanthropy or bribery), but also of symbolically “branding” the community and of making it more difficult for the community to oppose industry goals.

Similarly, investor-owned utilities sponsor sports stadiums and museums—branding efforts that double as philanthropy—in their efforts to effectively blur the line between public and private interests.

As long as we get sausages in bread every three or four years, Australians are gonna sleepwalk their way through this fascistic global push. More of you need to be more serious, sooner rather than later.

In the Trump era, this is terrifying. Apparently criticising capitalism 🥴🤣 is terrorism now in the US.

The AFP has set up new National Security Investigations (NSI) teams to target groups and individuals causing high levels of harm to Australia's social cohesion.
The NSI teams will work closely with state and territory police, law enforcement and national security partners to provide a coordinated, consistent and intelligence-led response to security threats, and also work on a global level through operations, capabilities and relationships with the international law enforcement intelligence community.
There are current and emerging groups dispersed across Australia and in some cases, overseas, who are eroding our country's social fabric by advocating hatred, fear, and humiliation. While many of these crimes may not meet the threshold of terrorism, the AFP has identified concerning behaviours which could escalate to politically-motivated violence or hate crimes, which seriously put the Australian community at risk.
There is no place for hate or violence in our communities and the AFP will defend and protect Australia and Australia's future from these threats.
Anyone with information about possible threats to the community or suspicious activity should make a report to the National Security Hotline on 1800 123 400. In an emergency or life-threatening situation, contact Triple

I always try to keep scale in mind with political action. This is about 3% of Italy's population. A U.S. equivalent would be ~10 million people.
