The fact that I could speak to so many people with my bad spanish and basic French tells of a colonial history, the original sin that brought them & me here. On their paperwork, I read the names of the officers who signed their papers, overwhelmingly names that indicate their own migration stories.

I spent the afternoon volunteering at an immigrant Rights organization and in 2 hours I met people from Peru, Ecuador, Morocco, Mauritania & Senegal. It is amazing to me how so many people speaking so many languages come here full of hope & how brutal our systems have become to them.
