I’ve sometimes fallen into the trap of thinking that complementing a creative person for their work is less sophisticated or desired than discussion or debate about it but very often the best thing you can say to them is hell yeah and that doesn’t make you dumb it just makes you nice

I feel a need to 'say' it publicly because several folks have come to me directly to tell me they're thankful to realize they're not alone when they see posts like this.

When chatting with the poll workers after I voted earlier this month, we agreed that we were seeing an up-swell of positive local activity in the face of the creeping fascism at the national level.
Don't worry - I was the only citizen voting when this conversation took place.

Looking back at what we could have had as a nation, while useful, won't help us understand the reality we're now faced with. I've been finding comfort in doing as much as I can to nurture values that are important to me at the local level - that's where I can have the biggest impact.
