When the Nazis decided they would “deport” all the Jews from Germany, they had only 0.75% of the population to round up. History tells us the large Nazi police presence that was required to complete that task.

In April 1933, the Nazis expelled Jews from all places of power and influence, including academic jobs. Currently, the Trump administration is expelling foreigners, not just illegal migrants, but visa holders, from the US. This includes people in academic and research positions.

Hitler and the Nazis used disabled people and the mentally ill as their litmus test. Since the German people did not speak up to stop their killing of innocent German citizens, the Nazis expanded their horrors once they found an efficient way to get rid of those they didn’t like.

Trump said he would use the military against American citizens in October 2024. He called them the “enemy within.” Hitler also used the military against German citizens. Pastor Martin Niemoller wrote about his experience as a survivor of the concentration camps. This is my tribute to his sentiment.

I am tired of hearing how Trump won by a “landslide,” and everything is a “mandate” from the people. After doing the math, 23% of the American people are dictating what happens to the other 77%. That does not sound like a “mandate from the people” to me.
