And because I'm out under my real name, I'm more afraid. This isn't okay. I'm not okay. I'm not a soldier, either. I don't know how to do anything other than use my words and my public voice under my real name to speak up. Free speech is under threat—I won't stop speaking up, but I'm scared. 2/2

Living in the US is so stressful for me as a trans person that my autoimmune conditions have flared more than they have since I began transition three and a half years ago. My shoulders are loose, neck aches, knees are cranky, and my back feels crackly. 1/?

ATLANTIC: “Trump admin acknowledged in a court filing it grabbed a Maryland father with protected legal status and mistakenly deported him to El Salvador, but said courts lack jurisdiction to order his return from the megaprison…”

Outrageous. Criminal.

This is a great thread about pronouns. And #DoraTheExplorer
Dora the Explorer has no chromosomes, no genitals, no gametes.

Yet she is definitely, uncontroversially, a girl for whom we all use she/her pronouns.
Right, I think the boat example works better rhetorically. I just like the cartoon example bc it's more subtle.

Dora isn't female - she's a drawing, an idea, a character. She has no biological existence.

But she IS a girl - bc we have created and defined her that way.

People want to show that they’re savvy, in the know, on the inside, so they give all kinds of bad advice that has the effect of gatekeeping protests and making them smaller. But protesting depends upon the principle of safety in numbers, so we need to do everything possible to not erect barriers.
On a personal note, let me just say that the effort to dissuade people from publicly protesting concerns me as an example of obeying in advance.

Yes, protestors should be mindful of risks. But let's not hurtle too quickly into a regime where journalists taking pictures of protests is untoward.
We're a news organization! We are not asking for anybody's secret illicit protest plans lol

Trump and Elon have been labeling any judge who upholds the law and the Constitution as an activist and arguing that they should be impeached. The Chief Justice of the United States rejected their calls to impeach federal judges who have aggressively pushed back on the administration’s initiatives.

If the Constitution is worthless, do I have to pay federal taxes?

I probably shouldn't stand next to a tree and face it while playing Pokémon Go. Someone might think I'm doing something else. 😅

This is probably code for something, but that's fine. I have thought of this story more in the past year than ever in my life.
The Emperor Has No Clothes.

#Dysphoria is not that you're #transgender. It's that horrible feeling that something isn't right, that it doesn't match. #Transition is the *treatment* for dysphoria.

All civil rights have to be intersectional. The reason for this is that people come with many of us identities and all of us hold multiple. Misogyny, racism, ableism, classism, and xenophobia should be what civil rights opposes and never embedded in the movement.

When MAGA fans get hurt by this administration, they'll keep finding ways to blame it on anyone but Trump and Musk.

They call us sheep. I'd rather stand in solidarity with other sheep than go over the cliff with lemmings. Sadly, the lemmings are dragging us along with them.

Check out this thread.
The failure of academia to explain things in layperson terms (up until some efforts recently) is one of the reasons for anti-intellectualism.

When you make science inaccessible, people will opt for those who sell easier solutions.

I wonder how our military feels about siding with Russia and China, let alone a presidential administration that is actively committing treason.

This
What drives me crazy about the anti-DEI rhetoric is everyone wants to be judged on merit. But you can't be judged on merit if you can't even get in the door because you don't fit some prejudiced definition of who is capable and who isn't

This, exactly this. It has been the same with same sex relationships. Since they lost on gay marriage, they have made trans/gender-expansive people the next Boogeyman. Isn't it ironic that kids raised in the queer community are more likely to be taught consent and to be more resistant to grooming? 😒
The anti-trans movement always pretends its latest demand, its latest moral panic, is the limits of what they want. Just give in to this one "reasonable concern" and they'll be satisfied, promise. It's a lie, they'll never be happy as long as trans people exist.
