Last session I tried denying them short rests, but that hurt the warlock disproportionately and was far less fun for him than others 😔 they have no cleric though, so I can easily manipulate the pace via healing potion availability 😉😂

I can have 1-3 short battles before a mini boss or full boss before they are bored of it, they want each battle to have a purpose. So I have to be careful how I add these in so they are all logical. Like there’s no rooms filled with goblins sitting around waiting for a fight 😂

I think halfway through the campaign is a bad time to play with rest, but my next campaign I will try something like this. It makes me have to track time more closely unfortunately. 🤔

I like boss monsters that power up as you hack away, or can self-heal. I don't like too many mobs in the boss lair, because of action economy and boredom if the bad guys get too much time, but I don't mind a boss with gobs of HP to stretch things.

The Theros "mythic" ideas are good for this, and @slyflourish.com has said some good stuff too. Basically the video game mechanic of the boss flashing blue then red, you chip away at them and they get more dangerous.

I've had to be pretty strict about long rests, short rests, etc. I do NOT want them constantly stopping for a 1 - 2 round quick combat with scrubs, that's boring to everyone. But I don't want to see them steamroll my BBEs either. Like you, I realized the rests were the issue!

There's some *pretty* cheap action cameras and security cameras around the $50, $60 price point, but yeah, I'm kind of surprised we don't see them $30 and under by now.

Love Panigales! Was torn last year, it was down to the Panigale V4 and the ZX-10R... the 40th anniversary livery on the Kawi got me though, had to have it!

These folks see the laws not as a "don't go here" warning, but as a beacon telling them "this is where the shortcuts and cheat codes to profit and benefit are" and weigh the price of getting caught against the gain from doing it. It's just a raw, naked, amoral, math/logic decision.

We’re not dealing with brilliant strategists cleverly laying traps, we’re dealing with impulsive whiners whose advantage is contempt for laws, norms, and morality.

They’re not pulling some elaborate trick, they’re just willing—even eager—to do things regular, principled people consider off limits.

It feels like they are building to Willow vs. Stokely as the big finish to this?

There is a lot of stuff in my game where there is no reason for the players to ever “get” it unless they really dug deep.

Yup, and remember what happened last storm season when the Appalachians got hit hard? They truly do not want the government to exist beyond the most extremely basic things. They don't even want help in case of a hurricane, they see FEMA as an occupying enemy, public schools as brainwashing.

Unfortunately, Google *was* evil, and that's why we don't have RSS readers anymore for the most part 😒

Holy smokes is that GOOD. Will be picking this up on my weekly Friday Bandcamp buy!

Not inside the character limit of this app, it’s miserable having a real discussion on anything of real value on here 😒

As it is, engagement here is fairly low unless you say something super inflammatory or are one of a small portion of big accounts.

For many reasons - some good, some bad, some legal, some cultural - European tech industry simply is not able to thrive on a global scale or do what the US (and now, Chinese and Indian) tech industries can or will do.
happyears.bsky.social
Having worked very closely with the European tech sector for nearly 20 years, that's barely even the surface of their risk aversion. There's a million reasons why European tech companies are not competitive. Good reasons! But they aren't competitive.

Yup, stuff like this really misses how these folks think, vote, etc. and *why* they do. And it's not JUST the hatred for minorities. It's the view that the government can't/won't help them, so might as well destroy it.

Sora is not the real problem here. The real problem is that in 12, at most 24 months, there will be a Sora clone from Tencent or Alibaba that is just as good and can be run by anybody with a 5099, at which point everyone in society needs to rapidly agree to treat all digital video as fake, period.

So after you make a point of ensuring that Sage is safely at home, and it's clearly a stressor for you... they just let Sage out again?
