Why is Chris Bishop sending people speeding into a 'death trap'. When the Ōtaki to Levin highway was 100kmh many died; after the Ardern Govt reduced it to 80kmh no-one died, when Luxon Govt increased it back to 100kmh, the dying restarted. www.greenpeace.org/aotearoa/sto...

If a foreign adversary snuck into our Federal budget and cut Education and Science Research the way we’re cutting it ourselves — strategically undermining America’s long-term health, wealth, and security — we would likely consider it an act of war.

In fact, I think a truly mature conversation would actually assess some of our many past asset sales and consider whether re-nationalising some of those assets might be in the country's interest.

But that's definitely not the conversation he wants.
NZ needs to have a ‘mature conversation’ about selling state assets, PM says
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has indicated asset sales could be included in National’s manifesto for the 2026 election.

There is money - it's about priorities. Low value roads or healthcare? Taxcuts for tobacco companies and landlords or education? These are real options that the govt has had.
"They know they can’t deliver all of these projects, but they want to pretend they still can. It seems that whatever the question, this government’s answer is 'More RoNS'. But more RoNs will bankrupt the nation."

In today's post, Matt Lowrie gets real on the costs of Roads of National Significance.

Using a car costs way more - in both private and public costs - than public transport and other modes. When our government decides to invest in motorways over public transport and to prioritise sprawling car dependent suburbs, they are actively choosing to force up the cost of transport.
