Cycling around Manchester/Salford is just 100x better than it used to be, even if every so often the route just randomly dumps you on a pavement next to a motorway and goes “yeah this will do”. Their rental bikes are also better than the TfL options... when they work.

A MASSIVE campaign win for Walk Ride GM.

It was looking likely that a major cycle route in Manchester was going to be lost forever

The campaign saw over 150 objections to the planning application - which forced the university to reconsider

Welsh election law now requires local candidates to list their party memberships in the last year. That's good for transparency re. those listed as independents. It also gives us things like this... (Abermaw, Gwynedd by-election, polling this week)

Media coverage is fuelling a backlash against e-bikes. But often, the stories aren't even about e-bikes at all.

Last week, the BBC reported that an "e-bike" was involved in a serious incident. But it was actually a high-powered electric motorbike.

Here's how it got changed...🧵

NEW 🚨 The Government has confirmed to local MP Jeff Smith that they will continue to support high quality cycling infrastructure with floating bus stops.
The photo shows a bright, bustling street in Greater Manchester with a well-designed floating bus stop. A woman rides a Starling Bank hire bike in a clearly marked, segregated cycle lane, while a man follows on a cargo bike. A yellow Bee Network bus pulls into the bus stop, where people are waiting safely on an island between the cycle lane and road. Quotes overlaid read: “Good-quality, segregated infrastructure is vital” and “The Government does not believe a ban on floating bus stops is appropriate.” The Walk Ride GM logo appears in the corner, reinforcing the call for safe, inclusive streets.

Hundreds turned out each year to protest the closure of the road to cyclists, but also to protest the unsafe conditions created by speeding drivers.

Today is a massive victory for those who find sanctuary riding the peaks most scenic climb.

Great to see the report I wrote for @bikeabilityuk.bsky.social and @livingstreets.bsky.social having an impact on national policy

Our polling found that 81% of people agree there is too much motor traffic around schools - a national consensus!
