I've attended many motor vehicle accidents. Last NOV we got paged to a car which had hit a tree at high speed. Completely on fire, incl the battery pack & internal combustion engine.
There is a lot of anti renewables hype out there. Most of it is fear mongering crap. We know how to deal with this.
foe.org.au
People who oppose renewables love to talk up the perceived fire risks of wind turbines, batteries & electric/ hybrid vehicles.

The fact is that the risk of fire is actually very low & can be managed by responders.

David Pocock asks Don Farrell some serious questions about why the govt has not implemented an important recommendation from the #RobodebtRC.
Farrell caught playing on his phone, not even paying attention.🙄 Pocock hasn’t the patience to try again & moves on. #Estimates

The beauty of a tawny frogmouth’s nest is that, like the bird itself, it’s beautifully camouflaged. It just looks like a bunch of stick that have fallen down and gathered in the fork of a tree! From the ground you’d never know there were eggs in there!

Now pigeon nests, on the other hand…

What’s this? Yet more research concluding that robust public investment in the arts yields economic benefits?

A great outcome for Ireland, and a rebuke to all those tired cliches about freeloading artists sapping the resources of the state.

But also, art enriches us all, economic benefits or no.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

making my annual pilgrimage to one of the most objectionable road signs in the country, which is also responsible for the one and only time I "went viral" on the other site
A sign that reads "pedestrians please consider motorists and cross in groups". at a zebra crossing. which gives pedestrians right of way. at the exit from a train station on a local street a post I made on twitter on 21 July 2023, which is a photo of the same exact sign that I've captioned "flew all the way to Sydney just to see the single most offensive road sign I've ever seen as a transport planner"

It's difficult to check (registration is by product, not constituent), but last I looked there were well over 100 herbicide chemicals registered for use in Australia.

So why are we running a free advert for the latest one?

Many more are buried in rubble or vaporised by bombs

a Lancet study in June (when officially recorded deaths were 37,877) estimated a real toll of 64,260. UN data shows 40% were children & 22% women

This was before lsraeI started the mass starvation & aid traps. Now, lsraeI kills 100 Gazans a day

The official death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 67,000

Equivalent to the population of Napier
