Apropos of nothing, Sec. Kristi Noem is currently praying over Burgerville with Portland ICE officials.

I've attended many motor vehicle accidents. Last NOV we got paged to a car which had hit a tree at high speed. Completely on fire, incl the battery pack & internal combustion engine.
There is a lot of anti renewables hype out there. Most of it is fear mongering crap. We know how to deal with this.
foe.org.au
People who oppose renewables love to talk up the perceived fire risks of wind turbines, batteries & electric/ hybrid vehicles.

The fact is that the risk of fire is actually very low & can be managed by responders.
camwalker.bsky.social
Isn't it sweet how The Australian is suddenly really worried about nature and biodiversity.

I'm sure the chance to kick renewables and The Greens has nothing to do with it.

“A common argument used by campaigners who oppose wind farms is the claim that renewables increase the risk of fire in regional communities. There is no data that we have seen that suggest that areas with wind farms have more frequent or intense fires.”

Firefighters say renewables pose no increased fire risk
Renewable power facilities do not pose a significant threat of increased fire risk, according to the Australian firefighters.

Sad nukes apologist Dan Tehan went to the USA to investigate nukes & is still pushing small modular reactors - 'they should be economically viable by 2035' (so what, we do nothing for 10 years?), 'nuclear is the safest technology on the planet'. He didn't bother to visit any renewables facilities.

The windfarm management tracks are a firefighters dream! Easy access over rough ground, excellent dead edges.

Aircraft wise, as the article states, no different to work around than the many other hazards in the wire environment.

Trump lacks the capacity to distinguish what he sees on television from reality and those around him (most likely especially Stephen Miller) are encouraging his resulting delusions—a very dangerous situation.

Trump seems to back off Portland military plan: 'Am I watching things on television that are different from what's happening?'
President Trump had said he will send troops to Portland to protect U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities, which he said were "under attack."

I signed on as a vol to fight bushfires.

But being in a regional town, winter means car accidents, structural fires, gas leaks, patient lifts, etc.

Fire season prep (burn over, hazardous trees, etc) always feels like we're getting ready for the main game.
