The photo fits well with the poem, the carousel of a memory shattered in reflection.

Joe, I admire that willow. Your phrase “alive to the storm” packs a punch, making a powerful last line.

Susan, I love the combination of your hibernating bear and Amy’s constellation, slumbering and lumbering. Could become a tanka or the start to a renga (5-7-5, 7-7).

Thanks, Tré!

Two comparisons in the image suggested to me by your words—color & shape. And the flip in tone from the word “last”; you packed a lot into a few words 🥰

Your lovely photo/haiku could also be tagged as “haiga,” if you want.

Thanks for the plant info. First time I’ve seen this kind of bloom.

❤️your use of “bare” here. So apropos!

Using the word “sparked” as a verb works well here.

“Inauthentic feel” is where most haiku that miss the mark do so. I might call them “contrived” or “heartless.” What I never tire of reading are ones that make me pause & ponder, feel, or smile. Even subgenres like dad jokes can elicit that sort of response if heartfelt & thoughtful.
