A review on StoryGraph. “Your review for: You Weren’t Meant to Be Human by Andrew Joseph White”. Five stars. Tagged as challenging, dark, emotional, sad, tense, and fast-paced. Plot or Character Driven: A mix. Strong character development: Yes. Lovable characters: No. Diverse cast of characters: Yes. Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated. The review starts: “A warning to all: this is by far the hardest AJW book to read. It’s gross, nauseating, gut wrenching, and I loved it. I love how gruesome and unrelenting this is, how it does not pull punches, it gets into the darkness of a mind and shows you its bleeding innards. And AJW always does that, but this one is different, I think because it’s an adult novel. I’m afraid to admit that I don’t think a character has seen all of the dark parts of” The rest is continued on the next image. Text continued from previous image: “me that I keep tucked away into the grooves of my brain the way Crane has. What does that say about me? Did I just buy a first edition copy of my favorite Raggedy Ann book for $20? Also yes

I refuse to let anyone ruin Raggedy Ann for me.

Compound Fracture by Andrew Joseph White. Trans representation, autistic representation, good portrayal of Appalachia, socialist af, excellent prose, wonderfully written (as are all AJW books) 10/10 would recommend. Wanted to puke during most of it so it did its job.
