North Carolina’s Atrium Health says it will forgive the debts of 11,500 people — less than a week after NBC News reported that the company has aggressively pursued former patients’ medical debts, placing liens on their homes to collect on bills.
'Like a miracle': N.C. couple free of nearly $100,000 medical debt after 15 years
The lien on Donna and Gary Lindabury's home for a 2009 heart surgery debt was among 11,500 wiped away by Atrium Health after an NBC News report.

NC residents: please send emails to the offices of Reps. Clampitt and Pless who voted against the bill last time. Thank them for voting ‘no’ last time and ask them to maintain that vote.

Looks like the fate of the Helene relief/lame duck power grab bill in #ncpol is still in question.

No surprise, the new North Carolina ID law disproportionately disenfranchised Democratic and Black voters.

As a tiny backyard farmer, I’m committed to feeding my community, my neighbors and my family as much as I am able. But small farms will never be able to feed the masses. And we will soon find out just how reliant we are on (grossly underpaid) undocumented labor to feed us.
“… some may wonder why farmers can’t just hire more US citizens to do the work of those deported.

But those in the ag. industry insist that’s just not possible.

'There are no domestic workers that want those jobs,’ said Letiz, the MI farmer. 'It’s seasonal. It’s outside. It’s hot. It’s cold.’”

Agriculture executives, farm industry officials and economists tell CNN that if Trump keeps his deportation promises, groceries will get more expensive — perhaps much more expensive.

Trump isn't a magical demon. He and the figures around him are just people. Their time and attention is limited, and they're not the most competent. Make things hard for them, and while you'll lose some, you'll win some too.

And as Bouie notes, marginal Trump voters didn't sign up for all this.
so here is the thing, the people who have trump the win did not vote for this. they voted out of a magical belief that trump would lower prices and make them rich. the gap between what they voted for and what trump will deliver is the space for political opportunity! bsky.app/profile/fkes...
This is what the country voted for. Sad.

NC folks: write to your state house reps regarding HB10. Republicans are pushing through their legislation before they lose supermajority. This bill diverts even more public school money to private vouchers AND forces cities (like Durham) to cooperate with ICE. secure.everyaction.com/OkncncjFlUuN...
Tell your representatives to sustain the veto of HB10
