Did I say that? No, I didn't say any such thing. I was correcting that individual who stated that the Iraq war started before the Afghan war. I merely confirmed that W was re-elected in 2004, supporting the idea that we do have elections in wartime. Both wars continued after the election as we know.

No, Afghanistan came first, in 2001, after 9/11. Iraq started in 2003. W was elected in 2000 and took office in 2001. He got re-elected in 2004.

True, there was a midterm election in 1990, shortly after Desert Shield started. There was no presidential election during Desert Shield or Desert Storm. The original post was about presidents being elected during wartime. I was merely pointing out that "W" didn't call up anyone for Desert Shield.

W wasn't in the White House until ten years after Desert Storm.
