Much later I would read Klee Benally's book No Spiritual Surrender and encountered the idea of "hostile spaces" as a counterpoint to "safe spaces." These are spaces that are safe because they are hostile to oppressive ideologies, an us that excludes the violent others who mean us harm.

Overwhelm is a human state we enter from time to time.

A little compassion for both the times of overwhelm and the times of the rising out from it, helps facilitate needed shifts.

Oddly enough this is reminding me to let go of all I cannot resolve at the moment.
Surrender to something bigger than either the gun or the tsunami. Because every time I have done in the past, little doors and windows open that are neither gun nor water.

We see an arm and hand with a gun pointed at the person's head, but instead of a head, it's a rolling tsunami coming at them.
