I am glad he introduced me to this book through gcse english, I just wish he hadn't inflicted tess of the 🖕 d'urbervilles on me as well. I literally quit the course when I discovered it was the text for A level.

Its been a while since Ive read the text, will have to rectify that.
There was historically a tendency to include the Irish in with those groups, even going so far as the describe them as having 'dark looks' etc, which is obviously preposterous.
