Last week I was going through index cards given to the history society and I found a section on ghosts 👻

'The Tall Man of Ewenny Hill' is such a terrible ghost name. I hope he's okay 👻

Day 7, Angel: This is the grave of George Fleet J, who died in Trinity at age 15, 1873. His grave is decorated by a detailed flying angel blowing a trumpet, with a banner behind her reading 'Behold He Cometh'. George is buried at the Methodist graveyard in Trinity, NL.

A marble gravestone with an angel flying and playing a trumpet. The description is pretty much in the skeet actually!

This image was taken 100 years ago in 1925. It’s one of a number featured in an album of photographs taken of Tonypandy Secondary School in the Rhondda Valleys.

This photo shows the school’s student teachers for the year 1924-25, with the Headmaster seated at the centre.
A group of student teachers are photographed in three rows outside the school building. The back row is made up of men, all standing. The middle row sees women seated with the headmaster in the centre. In the front three women sit on the floor.

After a hiatus, I am back to transcribing Glamorgan County Lunatic Asylum casefiles.

I love my work, but it can be emotionally exhausting.

I am currently writing up a paper I am giving in a few months. It's about the female experience in Glamorgan County Lunatic Asylum.

I've just rediscovered a woman who stole an attendant's clothes, escaped by jumping the fence, and was never seen again.

I hope she had a good life 🙏

I was searching for a burial record and came across one for an 'illegitimate' child who was baptised in Cowbridge.

While the vicar has recorded the father's occupation as 'Labourer', the vicar recorded the mother's occupation as "Strumpet." 👀

It's interesting that Riddell's supernatural tales comprised only a small fraction of her total literary output, but this plaque specifically commemorates her ghost stories. I wonder what she would have thought of this?

Happy UK Fungus Day! All of these were photographed by me in the UK. Aren’t they beautiful!
#ukfungi #ukfungusday
Lots of different coloured mushrooms in a whole range of different shapes and sizes. Some look like coral, others like cauliflowers or little cream coloured balls. There are some that look like jellies or turkey’s tails.
