At pediatric-level flow rates over 48 h, we observed about a one-third reduction in hemolysis, while platelet function remained normal. While further clinical studies are needed, we believe this technology could be an important step toward safer, more gentle extracorporeal circulation in the future.

This “magnetostaltic” pumping method significantly reduced damage to red blood cells as compared with standard centrifugal and peristaltic pumps in ex vivo tests using human blood.

Yes, me too unfortunately, and I could have had at least 10-20 more papers, I just choose not to play that game. But the system demands numbers to advance, so that’s not helping.

Yes, simply using a machine from our team without further discussion or involvement in the project I have declined; also, if the time commitment is small, acknowledgements are fine.
