This was a terrible edit of mine on a whim put together to try and show it all in one photo. It was a photo walk with a bad camera and a worse operator😅

Alt text on the last image: A close-up reproduction based on my photos of the SEPTA MFL signage intended to show off the same segmentation as the quoted typeface.

After some reproduction work, I'm fairly certain there is some common root between those signs I saw in philly as the Trans-Lite signs as MUNI had.

All the same, i'm very happy there's a segmented typeface that I don't need to make myself.

Fantastic work!

Long since facinated with segmented type, and since it was a photo adventure, i took photos. After this blog post was circulating, i re-opened my Inkscape project where I had sliced the glyphs apart to try and make my own font, a fool's errand with my skillset, but... it was still familiar.

You see, for a while I lived in Philadelphia, and while it's often maligned, the El in Philly is something residents do actually make use of.

While my time in the city had me on the BSL far more often, after exploring the city one day, I ended up on the Market Frankford Line, or the "El".
