Debates around politics and economics are never far from the headlines in France today — but what about in 1789? What do your students think truly sparked the French Revolution: politics, economics, or both? Sign up as a member to access this course for free.

In response to this new research, the @histassoc.bsky.social have also written an article on the report, including making multiple articles from TH available so more teachers can make use of the wisdom within. The link is here:

Black History Month is an opportunity to remind people that history is broad and diverse. It is not about singling out groups its just about making sure more of the voices of the past are included, creating a fuller picture of history. www.history.org.uk/ha-news/cate...

Here is a question for #HistoryEducation. What makes a good Teaching History article? A short thread for #historyteacher s.
Teaching History is a journal published by @histassoc.bsky.social and read by thousands of teachers. (Is that the right 'number'?)

It doesn't surprise me that this has happened to women in history lessons/the curriculum because the 'knowledge rich' push always came from the angle of 'dead white men'. Gove's whole approach was underpinned by a macho ethos despite claims it was about 'the best that has been thought and said'.

At the @histassoc.bsky.social conference this was a recurring theme of the workshops. There is so much work going on at the grassroots to tell the truth about the past and tackle misogyny but we desperately need change from the top too. @beckyfrancis.bsky.social!

The Mississippi Museum of Art now owns the only two known portraits of enslaved Mississippians that were painted before the Civil War.

"Portrait of Frederick" joins "Portrait of Delia," both hanging in the same museum together for the first time in history.

Spent an excellent evening at the @histassoc.bsky.social W Surrey branch lecture by Alex Walsham on persecution & faith in the early modern era. 8 of our students came too - so satisfying to see them recognising the key terms and events they've been studying. Edwards' Gangraena only this afternoon!
