The programme will be full yes, we've had some great submissions this year! The only exception is if we have any speaker withdraw closer to the time, but that is rare.

We love everything about this image but particularly what may or may not be a demonic skateboarding rabbit at the front

The creche was part of a utopian 'social palace' built for workers at the Godin factory in Guise, France

[from mrc-describe.epexio.com/records/IPA/... ]

#EYAEducation #histed
Engraving with the caption 'The kindergarten and creche at the Familistère'. It shows a large room with curtained cribs containing babies in the back half. The front half of the room is divided into two. On the right, toddlers, accompanied by three adults, are sitting and playing. Four appear to be corralled in a circular pen, while nine are sitting on benches. One small child has a little cart on string. On the left, older children are playing, supervised by two adults. One group is dancing in a circle, another appear to be doing a 19th century version of the conga, one boy is playing a violin, and other children are skipping, playing with a hoop and holding a doll. What looks suspiciously like a demonic rabbit on wheels is at the front and centre of the image. The image was included in the book 'The co-operative traveller abroad' by Edward Owen Greening, 1888 [document reference: MSS.310/5/3/12]

#histed Figure of the Week!

We're celebrating the life of Hazel Hainsworth Young, who was born exactly 120 years ago today.

An American Latin teacher who inspired learners despite ongoing segregation, and the founder of the first Alpha Kappa Alpha graduate chapter in Houston.

#histed Object of the Past!

📷 Portable slate desk: Students in early 20th-century rural schools may have carried little personal slate desks - a hinged wooden box with a slate inside. A compact classroom wherever lessons happened. Technology certainly has come a long way!
